Candidates for Officers and Directors
The board is comprised of Officers and Directors. Officer positions include the President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Directors are assigned roles each year by the President, and include Assistant Treasurer, Social/Publicity Director, Catalog Editor and Newsletter Editor. Officers are elected for 1-year at a time. Directors serve a 2-year term, with two elected each year so that we have staggered 2-year terms. Newly elected officials assume office on May 1. Below is a short bio provided by each of the candidates who is running for the board for the upcoming season.
Joe Bayliss - I am a native Floridian and lifelong resident of St. Petersburg. I am an owner/partner of a law firm and practice over a large part of the state. I have been a member of the club since 1996. I assisted as a leader for the first time in 1999, in Big Sky. Cheryl Gleaton was the trip leader and I learned more than I can remember from her mentoring me. Since then, I have led many trips for the club and I have served on the board in various capacities. I have been Assistant Treasurer, Sitzmark Editor, Catalog Editor, Secretary, Treasurer and the past two years served as Vice President. I am running for President for the 2019-20 Season and look forward to all of your support.
Terry Barton - I’m running for Vice President of the TBSSB Board. I have served the last 4 years on the board, 3 as the Sitzmark Editor and 1 as the Catalog Director. I have done my best to keep you informed of all the club trips, events, and many other items of interest. We all have a desire to make TBSSB the best ski club in the country. Through the 11 years and 16 trips, I have discovered we have dedicated leaders and loyal travelers. The people in our club are special and bring an enthusiasm and spirit that gives me pride in saying that I’m a member. We always seem to succeed in the FUN department!! I believe my organizational skills, negotiating skills, and financial skills can be useful to the club. I bring a strong sense of fairness when dealing with individuals and situations. When making decisions for the club, I promise to always go back to “what is fair and in the best interest of our members” and “what is fair and in the best interest of our club”. Please vote for me and I will do my very best to keep our club thriving!!

I have served as TBSSB Board Secretary for the last year (2018 - 2019), and I am interested in running for the same position for 2019 - 2020. During the last year, I attended all board meetings (except one, when I was out of town). I have successfully executed my duties as the club Secretary during this time. I am proud to be part of a such a great organization and work with such dedicated and responsible people. If I am re-elected Secretary I will do my best to further contribute to the success of the Tampa Bay Snow Skiers & Boarders.
