Tampa Bay Snow Skiers and Boarders
Board of Directors
Candidates for Officers and Directors
The board is comprised of Officers and Directors. Officer positions include the President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Directors are assigned roles each year by the President, and include Assistant Treasurer, Social/Publicity Director, Catalog Editor and Newsletter Editor. Officers are elected for 1-year at a time. Directors serve a 2-year term, with two elected each year so that we have staggered 2-year terms. Newly elected officials assume office on May 1. Below is a short bio provided by each of the candidates who is running for the board for the upcoming season.
Joe Bayliss - I am a native Floridian and lifelong resident of St. Petersburg. I am an owner/partner of a law firm and practice over a large part of the state. I have been a member of the club since 1996. I assisted as a leader for the first time in 1999, in Big Sky. Since then, I have led many trips for the club and I have served on the board in various capacities. I’ve served as Assistant Treasurer, Sitzmark Editor, Catalog Editor, Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President and this past year I served as President. I am running for President for a second term for the 2020-21 Season and look forward to all your support.
Toufic Moumne - I have been an essential member of the Tampa Bay Snow Skiers and Boarders since 1987. During my tenure, I have served in almost every position on the board from assistant treasurer to President. I also was appointed to the trip committee position for several years. My biggest impact was focusing our leaders on the club’s mission statement, goals and objectives.
I also have been on the board of Florida Ski Council for last 13 years. I am currently the Bid Director of FSC. I have served in the past as Secretary, Treasurer and first & Second VP, President, Past President and Bid Director. I will be finishing my commitment with the council in June 2020.
I believe in setting goals and taking the necessary steps to achieve them. I use this method in my work and in my every day life. My biggest strength is learning and teaching. I learned from the previous TBSSB and FSC board of directors and I continued their message to keep the club/Council vibrant yet business like. I have helped many FSC clubs, board Directors, Officers and Leaders to be successful by assisting them with setting and attaining their goals. I also wrote and presented a seminar on “How to Run Your Club as a Business” and presented at the FSC meeting.
I believe I am a vital asset to TBSSB. I can assist them in reaching their goals and objectives. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 813-545-3369. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
Barbara Shank - I have been a member of TBSSB for over 30yr. I have worked on the Board in many capacities over the years. This year I am running for Secretary. I want to continue to help this Club stay the strong Club that it is and hopefully continue to grow. Looking forward to a great 2020-2021 Season!!
Nancy DelGatto - I have been a member of TBSSB for 14 years. I have served on the board in numerous positions (Catalog Editor, Social Director, Assistant Treasurer, past Treasurer and Secretary), and am currently the club treasurer seeking re-election to this position. I have had the opportunity to lead ski trips to some fabulous ski resorts plus leading a bike and barge trip to Croatia. Through these trips, I have met some wonderful people and have made many great friendships! I look forward to serving on the board if re-elected and to providing our travelers with another amazing ski season.
Director at Large
There are five (5) candidates vying for three (3) Director at Large positions.
Roger Copp - I am, as you know, the Sitz editor, and I was on the board from 2008 through 2012. I served as President from 2010 to 2012. I also served as Assistant Treasurer and Vice President. When I was President, my guiding principle was that Board and Trip Committee members treat each other with consideration and respect. I was a member of the trip committee for 4 years. I have led or co-led 13 trips and arranged the Ichetucknee summer rafting trip for 2 years. In addition to the trips where I led or co-led, I have been on 16 TBSSB trips as a traveler including a Bike and Barge trip to Croatia. I would like to continue serving on the board so that I can contribute to the continuing success of TBSSB.
Leslie Foreman - I am running for a Director position on the board of Tampa Bay Snow Skiers and Boarders. I have been a member of this wonderful club for 11 years and have traveled on one or more ski trips every year since 2009. My experience in leading ski trips started in 2017 as an assistant trip leader to the FSC January trip that year. Since then, I have been an assistant leader two more times and I was the trip leader for the sold out Winter Park ski trip in January this year.
For the last two years, I served on the TBSSB board as the Secretary for the club.
Janica VanBrocklin - I would like to be more involved with planning and decision making of our trips. I have been involved with the club for 18 years, and have assisted on two trips along with attending events and meetings.
Jason Depp - I have been with the club for 8 years I think and have been an assistant on 7 trips now. Professionally I have a masters degree in accounting and tax and I have been a controller for over 15 years working for small firms to large publicly traded corporations.
Herb Young - I am honored to be nominated for a director position on the Board by a long-time member and friend, I first became a member of the Tampa Bay Snow Skiers & Boarders in 2014 on a FSC Park City, UT trip lead by Peggy Gummoe. After two seasons, I became further involved with the club and became an Assistant Trip Leader under Terry Barton on a Park City, UT trip in 2016 and followed in 2017 as an Assistant under Rob Livingston on a Winter Park, CO trip. Both experiences were challenging and gave me insights and lessons in how dedicated, hardworking and passionate our Board and trip assistants and leaders are. It takes this type of commitment to be among one of the best ski clubs in the country.
Personally, I was born in Wyoming, and recently married my wife, Cary Young. I have recently started into semi-retirement after a 40-year career in marketing, market research and heading research departments for major corporations and most recently owner in a local marketing agency. I am an active cyclist, kayaker, hiker, and of course an avid skier.
I look forward to serving the Tampa Bay Snow Skiers & Boarders, and believe my business, leadership and dedication will serve our members well. Thank you!
