Trip Highlights

This is the weekend trip for powder hounds. Powder Mountain is over 8,000 acres (Yup, 2,600 acres bigger than Vail). Snowbasin is about 3,000 acres. Both mountains get lots of fluffy powder, and both resorts have very few skiers. That means that the powder last for days after a good snowfall. If you can’t take a week off or you want another trip besides your week-long trip, this is the trip to get on. We will be staying at the Courtyard Marriott in downtown Ogden near to a bunch of restaurants, a craft brewery, and other activities. We are only a 30-minute bus ride from either mountain. Come join this fun-packed trip.

Lodging

We are staying at the Courtyard Marriott in downtown Ogden. This hotel gets great reviews on Trip Advisor (especially the staff), and each hotel room has two very comfortable queen beds (again, there are positive comments on Trip Advisor about the beds). The pick-up for the dedicated bus to either Powder Mountain or Snowbasin is just outside the hotel, and you will be at the resort within 30 minutes. The hotel is right next to historic 25th Street which has plenty of restaurants, a craft brewery, and other activities.

The Mountain(s)

Powder Mountain and Snowbasin get lots of snow but very few skiers. The resorts have a wide variety of runs ranging from beginner to expert. Powder Mountain is ranked #3 is value and #5 in snow by Ski Magazine in 2017. It is bigger than Vail, and ticket sales are restricted to 2000 skiers/day to ensure plenty of open space for skiers. Each lift has beginner, intermediate, and expert runs so everyone can get to the bottom no matter your skiing ability. Snowbasin is a gem of a resort with an abundance of powder. The runs are longer than Park City, and there are very few skiers. This is a skier’s trip. The powder lasts for days at both resorts. Come have an awesome weekend with Roger and Rob in powder heaven!

Since it is a long weekend trip, we are not planning any off-mountain excursions. However, if you burn out your legs after the first two days, there are a number of interesting things to do near the hotel. The Salomon Center has great off-slope activities such as the iFly wind tunnel, rock climbing, and surfing. Union Station, one block from our hotel, has the Utah Cowboy Museum, the Utah Railway Museum, and an antique car collection.
