On Sunday, Sept 6th we will travel by private bus to Oban where we start our bike and sailing part of the trip. We will tour through the Inner Hebrides and the Highlands aboard the Flying Dutchman (Tallship sailboat that accommodates up to 21 travelers in 11 cabins). We will visit the island of Mull and the Morvern Peninsula, home to the most spectacular landscapes in Scotland and largely untouched by mass tourism. The isle of Jura, which is known for its rich stock of red deer and its world-famous whiskey distillery, is also part of our program. Enjoy the wild scenery of Scotland, its color contrasts and great biodiversity. We want to discover with you some of the most beautiful places in this breath-taking country. Mass tourism has not reached these parts of Scotland, you shall experience vast remoteness, few cars and stunning natural landscapes envied throughout the world. Treat yourself in the evening to a glass of whiskey in one of the pubs and listen to the ever-present Scottish music. On your crossings with the Flying Dutchman, we keep watch for dolphins and seals, and let the grandiose landscape pass on by. On our cycle tours, we’ll be looking out for eagles, red deer and otters with incredible views down over the sea from the most beautiful lookout points.

At 39 x 6.5 m the Flying Dutchman took to the water in 1903. The rebuild of the former herring luger took place in 2004 and included the addition of 10 comfortable guest cabins each with shower and WC, a salon below the main deck and the cozy seats on deck. The impressive sail size of 480 sqm makes for a very special sailing experience as you journey from island to island. Of course the captain welcomes the active help of his guests when it comes to rigging the sails. Characteristic features - Tallship journeys - Our Tallships mostly do not fit into small fishing harbors and therefore spend the majority of their nights on anchor. This means that a dinghy transfer is necessary to get to land. Additionally a tidal difference may affect accessibility of the boat on our tours in Great Britain. In some cases it may be necessary to climb a ladder to get on/off the boat or that the use of a dinghy/tender might be necessary for embarkation/disembarkation. Surefootedness and a certain degree of agility are required to get on and off the boat. Needless to say, our tour guides will lend you a helping hand. In general: Please do not forget that the ship is your hotel as well as a machine, which has to be maintained and operated – day and night. A certain level of noise is therefore inevitable. Itinerary Changes - We reserve the right to make changes to the planned itinerary due to changing wind and weather conditions as well as organizational requirements.

Included services on ship:

  • 8-day cruise on a tallship with crew
  • 7 nights in a twin cabin below deck with shower/toilet
  • 7 x half board
  • Guided cycling tours as described in itinerary
  • Overview-maps for the daily tours on board
  • Bed linen and towels
