From Garage Meetings to Mountain Memories
Our story began in 1970, when a small group of ski lovers gathered in a Tampa garage with a simple idea: start a local ski club. Just three months later, we had 300 members and were on our first trip to Vail, over 50 years ago.
As our passion grew, so did the club. We became the Suncoast Alpine Club, hosted monthly gatherings, published newsletters, and organized trips to legendary destinations like Steamboat, Winter Park, and Lake Tahoe. In 1986, we began operating as Tampa Bay Snow Skiers—and in 2006, we officially added "Boarders" to reflect our commitment to all winter sports enthusiasts.
Today, TBSSB runs weeklong and weekend trips to top resorts across the U.S. and beyond. Plus, we now include a few scenic international adventures in our schedule. Our travelers range from seasoned skiers and travelers to first-timers, and our mission is the same as it was in that garage: bring people together for unforgettable adventures on and off the slopes.
From 25 dreamers to 600+ annual travelers, TBSSB is Tampa Bay’s best-kept secret for winter fun and more — and we’re just getting started.
